{"id":90,"date":"2009-06-25T19:20:00","date_gmt":"2009-06-25T23:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chicityschmidtty.com\/wp\/?p=90"},"modified":"2009-06-25T19:20:00","modified_gmt":"2009-06-25T23:20:00","slug":"new-years-resolutions-mid-year-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.schmidtty.me\/?p=90","title":{"rendered":"New Year&#8217;s Resolutions Mid-Year Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My 2009 New Year&#8217;s Resolutions (Updated 7\/20)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Travel internationally (not for work)\n<ul>\n<li>Still working on getting an Oktoberfest trip together&#8230;looking grim<\/li>\n<li>Maybe do a fall Caribbean trip if above falls through<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Stop using the F-Bomb &#8211; I wish&#8230;I still talk like a sailor<\/li>\n<li>Start <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitnessformulaclubs.com\/programs\/rockclimbing.php\">climbing\/bouldering<\/a> again &#8211; Very disappointed that I am slacking on this one<\/li>\n<li>Read more books (actually, listen to more books via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.audible.com\/\">audible.com<\/a>) I am pretty embarrassed by this book list:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-style: italic;\">The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-style: italic;\">The 4-Hour Workweek, Tim Ferris<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-style: italic;\">Getting Things Done, David Allen<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Less drinking &#8211; Hahahahaha<\/li>\n<li>Run a 5k, 10k, Half-Marathons <a href=\"http:\/\/www.derbyfestivalmarathon.com\/\">1<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rnrchicago.com\/\">2<\/a>, and a Marathon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagomarathon.com\/\">1<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marinemarathon.com\/\">2<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nycmarathon.org\/\">3<\/a><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>BOA Shamrock Shuffle 8K<\/li>\n<li>Kentucky Derby miniMarathon<\/li>\n<li>Soldier Field 10 Mile<\/li>\n<li>Warrior Dash 6K<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Stick to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mint.com\/\">budget<\/a> &#8211; Hahahahaha<\/li>\n<li>Try a new restaurant every other week &#8211; I don&#8217;t know about every other week but I have definitely made some progress in trying to eat at every 4 and 5 star restaurant in ChiTown<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bikramcitychicago.com\/\">Bikram<\/a> &#8211; Not doing so hot, pun intended<\/li>\n<li>Spend more time outside &#8211; eh&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Drink more water &#8211; Stopped buying pop in bulk, now I just drink more coffee<\/li>\n<li>Cook more &#8211; Outside of Sunday dinners I still eat out 2-3 meals a day<\/li>\n<li>Masquerade Ball &amp; Booze Cruise &#8211; Not looking good, but WWR was so awesome that I can live with failing here<\/li>\n<li>Blog more &#8211; Some progress, kinda addicted to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/swschmidt\">Twitter<\/a> instead<\/li>\n<li>Redesign <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicityevents.com\/\">ChiCityEvents.com<\/a> site &#8211; Might need help with this one<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/hundredpushups.com\/\">One hundred push ups<\/a> &#8211; Can drop and do 40 easy, can do 100 in a few sets, but still can&#8217;t do 100 consecutive<\/li>\n<li>Bonus Resolution, do the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagotriathlon.com\/\">Chicago Triathlon<\/a> Sprint distance &#8211; Registered for the race, signed up for swim lessons and bought a wetsuit<\/li>\n<li>Bonus #2, take a photography class &#8211; Comparing DSLRs right now, haven&#8217;t pulled the trigger<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;Yesterday, everybody smoked his last cigar, took his last drink and swore his last oath. Today, we are a pious and exemplary community.
